| | Davao del Norte won first place in the National On-The-Spot Poster Making contest during the Annual Convention of the Pambansang Samahan Para Sa Edukasyon sa Pagpapahalaga (PSEP) on November 27 - 29, 2007 at Angel’s Hills Retreat and Formation House, Tagaytay City. Anthony Pontillas of Marsman National High School, Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte bested other 49 entries all over the country who was coached by Christopher Pelicano, Values Education teacher of the same school.
Pontillas received cash prize of Php5,000.00 sponsored by the PSEP in its three years of implementation.
Aside from Pontillas, Jeric Paul Dalisay, a grade VI pupil of Salvacion Elementary School, also from Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte got 4th place on the same event. Dalisay was the lone contestant from the elementary level with his coach Albert Eñano. Elnora P. Relabo, Education Supervisor I –Values Education Coordinator along with other values education teachers in the division and Region XI incharge of Values Education participated the activity. Dr. Aurora B. Cubero, Schools Division Superintendent of Davao del Norte was happy to note of the result as reported by Relabo during the Monday’s convocation program on December 3, 2007. Cubero congratulated the winners, coaches, school heads and district supervisor of the concerned contestants and encouraged everyone to takes active role in the various programs of DepEd. The theme of the convention “Pamilya, Paaralan at Media: Triyadikong Balikatan Tungo sa Makataong Sambayanan” was aimed to strengthen and enjoin the social and moral responsibilities of the family, school and mass media in building a humane society. Further, it was intended to enhance students creative participation in the promotion and preservation of moral and cultural values through different contests. | | |
